Of all of the beautiful ships and amazing itineraries in the cruising industry from which to choose, what makes Disney Cruise Line® special?
I have been lucky enough to discover the Disney difference for myself. I traveled with my family, which consisted of my husband, our daughters, Brynne and SeiJin, who were respectively eight years old and nearly two and myself. From the moment we saw the port, with the giant mouse ears waiting for us, we knew we would be experiencing something special. We boarded the Disney Wonder®, breathless with excitement, and were greeted and welcomed by name as we entered. This would be a vacation to remember!
As part of our vacation package, we had just enjoyed three nights in nearby Walt Disney World®, and were now to experience four nights on one of the most magical ships afloat! From the floating cinema, running brand new movies, to the unique dining choices in which we were treated royally by the same attentive staff each evening, though in a new restaurant each time, to the jaw dropping and side splitting Broadway style shows, we were hard pressed to take it all in! The family-oriented game shows had us itching to participate, winning a pin for one daughter’s collection. And when my “big girl” was doing something that my little one could not, we danced to a Playhouse Disney Party, and explored the ship on our own, finding stolen moments with characters, such as Lilo, who sat and held her in a chair on an out-of-the-way deck.
Ah, but the very best part, in my opinion, was what awaited us on Castaway Cay! Never in all of my travels had I seen such unspoiled paradise. Disney’s private island is everything you would expect, and so much that you can’t even imagine! We snorkeled and made sandcastles, cheered the crabs in the crab races, dribbled ice cream down our bathing suits from the included-and-all-you-can-eat cones, and were photographed with Mickey, Minnie and Daisy dressed for fun at the beach! And there were so many activities that we didn’t even have time to discover!
What makes Disney different? There is the well-known Disney service, the unparalleled attention to detail, the cutting edge programs for your smallest sailors, entertainment for cruisers of all ages, as well as quiet areas for adults only, and so very much more!
Let Off to Neverland Travel® help you make your dream cruise vacation a reality! The attention to detail that you will find with our Dream Makers will give you peace of mind and our own special magic before you ever board the ship!
Starting today, you can book your next Disney Cruise onboard Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Dream™. Click here to learn more.
The new Disney Dream™ will take family cruising to all-new heights, embracing the spirit of innovation, magical entertainment and immersive experiences that have made Disney Cruise Line® the preeminent cruise of choice for families since 1998.
For the majority of 2011, the new ship will alternate three- and four-night sailings. During the summer months, the ship will alternate four- and five-night itineraries. The schedule also includes special five-night holiday cruises during Christmas and New Year’s.
The Disney Dream™ will introduce a number of cruise-industry firsts and family-friendly innovations designed to make your experience even more magical. Among the highlights:
AquaDuck — Disney Cruise Line® debuts the first-ever shipboard water coaster! This exhilarating high-speed flume ride featuring twists, turns, drops, uphill acceleration and river rapids — all while traversing the upper decks of the ship.
Virtual Porthole – A cruise-industry first for all inside staterooms! Virtual Portholes offer a “window” to the world with a real-time view outside the ship using high-definition cameras. As you observe the view, they may glimpse a magical surprise: animated characters like Mickey Mouse may pop by the Virtual Porthole.
Enchanted Art — Around the atrium lobby and throughout the ship, Enchanted Art will immerse you in Disney storytelling in a completely new way. Enchanted Art magically comes alive as you pause to admire individual pieces.
Living Characters — In youth spaces, Disney Characters come to life and interact with children in one-of-a-kind experiences. Crush, the animated sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo,” or the mischievous animated alien Stitch make scheduled appearances to chat, play and joke with kids in live, unrehearsed conversations.
It’s a Disney Cruise Line® first! The Disney Wonder® Cruise Ship is sailing to Alaska for a four-month season of 7-night cruises in 2011. Departing out of Vancouver, B.C., the ship will call on popular ports such as Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway.
The first Alaskan cruise sets sail on May 3, 2011, with the last cruise of the season scheduled for Aug. 30, 2011.
Bookings open to the general public on Sept. 28, 2009. If you are a Castaway Club member who has completed five or more sailings with Disney Cruise Line®, you can book as early as Sept. 21, 2009.
Disney’s private island paradise,Castaway Cay, is getting an extra dose of pixie dust! New enhancements include an expanded family beach, new water features and play areas, private beach cabanas and more. Completion is scheduled for summer 2010.
Castaway Cay is consistently rated by Disney Cruise Line® Guests as their favorite port of call – the ultimate private island escape for adventure, relaxation and quality time with family.
Expanded Family Beach
This popular area is being extended by more than 700 feet so that guests have more room to enjoy the pristine white sand, relax under an umbrella or take a dip in the warm, azure waters of the lagoon.
As an added convenience, the area also will include a new family lunch-buffet location, a new beach bar, and additional beach rental and merchandise locations.
New Water Areas
Guests can slide, splash and plunge at a new water feature called Pelican Plunge. The 2,400-square-foot floating platform, located within swimming distance of shore, features two corkscrew water slides.
A new water play area called Spring-a-Leak lets parents and kids cool off. There’s also a new water play area just for the youngsters at Scuttle’s Cove.
New Beach Cabanas
Guests can have a little piece of paradise all to themselves at one of 20 new private cabanas. The premium rental cabanas provide the privacy and luxury of a deluxe beach retreat with an option to add the personalized service of a cabana host.
Most private cabanas are located on the far side of the Family Beach, but a handful of private cabanas are situated on Serenity Bay Beach, exclusively for adults.

In order to expand to many more itinerary options all across the globe, the Disney Cruise Line® is expanding its fleet with two newly designed ships. The first of those two ships, Disney Dream, is celebrating its keel laying. The Disney Cruise Line® fleet will see the addition of the Disney Dream in 2011. In 2012, the Disney Fantasy will join as well. Once both ships have arrived, they will more than double the current capacity of Disney Cruise Line®. Each weighs 128,000 tons and has 1250 staterooms onboard.
In order to create these wonderfully appointed new ships, Disney Cruise Line® has called in the team at Walt Disney Imagineering to give the new ships creativity in imaginative storytelling. Along with superb shipbuilding from the Meyer Werft shipyard, they have created a truly distinctive design.
While design details have yet to be released, the two new Disney ships will deliver unique vacations that every family member believes was created just for them. With spaces for kids, venues for families, and secluded spots only for adults, the Disney ships have something for everyone.
Port Canaveral will serve as the homeport for both the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. The new ships are larger than Disney’s current ships so expansion efforts are currently underway in Florida to accommodate these new vessels.
In addition to an extension of the dock and making the terminal bigger, a new multi-level parking structure will also be built. These new designs will add to the story-telling nature of the new ships, and will provide a seamless transition from land to sea for all cruisers.
Keep an eye out for the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy in the Off to Neverland Travel Disney Vacations Blog as these new ships will be sailing to uncharted magic soon.

Here’s a great new offering for families assigned to second dining! The Dine and Play program allows children to get their meals quicker and adults to check-in a child for Youth Activities without leaving the dining room.
Dine and Play
Available on both the Disney Magic® and Disney Wonder® Cruise Ship.
Offered during second dining in any of the main dining rooms - Animator’s Palate, Lumieres, Tritons and Parrot Cay.
Open to children ages 3-12.
Here’s how it works: You arrive in the dining room and inform the server that your child would like to participate in Dine and Play. The dining room team brings the child’s meal first while serving the adults at a more leisurely pace.
About 45 minutes after seating begins, Youth Activities Counselors arrive in the dining room and sign in your child to their respective groups in Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, eliminating the need for you to escort your child to Deck 5.
Adults are then able to enjoy the full dining experience with the knowledge that their child is having a great time in a safe, fun and comfortable environment.
